The Sin of the Automobile, The Glory of the Open Air

I was ran down while walking my bike across a crosswalk today. I know it happens to everybody all the time, so it doesn't sound like much, but to me it serves as a reminder of just how easily and quickly life is trivialized by someone who doesn't even know how much power they have.

I'm okay, the bike took a few dings, but it will survive. Portland Police won't do anything because I had the wherewithal to throw myself and my bike to the ground one lane over before impact. "No contact, no crash," they said.

I know it's a cartoon, but damn it if this doesn't just capture it all...

Thanks to the Catholic Social Justice blog "A Little Bit of Change" for pointing out the vid.
