Martyrs, Prophets, Saints and Shrines

The Bike Temple is busy putting the finishing touches on our first piece of Mobile Religious Equipment, the Mobile Shrine.The main purpose of the Mobile Shrine is to recognize and pay tribute to the bicycle and those who have made great contributions and sacrifices toward it's advancement in society. This will include those who have fallen from the saddle (martyrs), those who have made it their life's mission to promote and safe and pleasant legitimize cycling (saints), and those who have worked to educate and inform the general public about the benefits of the bicycle (prophets). We intend to pay tribute to these people through the use of photographs and stories.

Communing at the Alter - The Zoobomb Bicycle Library is Unveiled

This afternoon a mass of bicycle believers gathered to worship at the alter that is the new Zoobomb Pyle.  The attendees included everyone from  Bike Temple members emaculately saved from recent danger, to the mayor of the Bicycle Holy Land.

This was truly a spiritual experience.  In addition to Mr. Adams, several representatives from city hall showed up to bask in the glory of the gold-plated mini bike.  After an amazing performance from The Sprockettes the crowd took over the block and had a good ol' fashioned "do it better" dance party.

It goes without saying that this is a great day for the city of Portland.  Not only has it committed its time and resources to building a monument for bicycles, but it has reached out to and accepted a group of people who refuse to be controlled or regulated, a people who hold the bicycle high above all else.

Hallelujah.

Tower of Bikebel - Another Sucessful Work Party

The organizers met again this Monday for yet another Bike Temple work party. We got the mobile shrine built up to the point where we were able to cruise it down the street for a test drive! After some minor tweaking, welding and beautifying this should prove to be quite the contraption.
We are still on the lookout for beater bike frames, please let us know if you have any leads.

One idea we had for the mobile shrine was to hang pictures of bicycle marters from it, those who's lives were lost on the road.  Whatever the finalized product turns out to be, we plan on honoring those people and all those who have helped to advance our venerated transportation form.
